Avida Care Is Now a Registered NDIS Provider

We have some good news to share. Avida Care is now a Registered NDIS Provider, approved by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. For our team in Box Hill, this is the result of many months of preparation, audit and review. For participants and families across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, it means more choice and more confidence in the care you receive.

What registration means

Any organisation can call itself an NDIS provider. Only a registered provider has been independently audited against the NDIS Practice Standards, which cover:

  • The rights of participants, including privacy, dignity and freedom from abuse and neglect.
  • Governance, staff screening, training and complaints handling.
  • Safe delivery of supports, including risk management, incident reporting and medication management.
  • Quality standards specific to services such as personal care, community access and allied health.

Registered providers are also bound by the NDIS Code of Conduct and are monitored by the Commission on an ongoing basis. Registration is not a one-off badge. It is a commitment we renew through regular audits.

What changes for you

If your plan is agency managed. Until now, participants whose funding is managed by the NDIA could not use Avida Care, because agency-managed plans can only pay registered providers. That barrier is gone. You can now choose us for personal care, community participation, support coordination, nursing and allied health.

If your plan is plan managed or self managed. You could already choose us, and nothing about your services changes. What you gain is the assurance that our systems, staff and practices have been checked by an independent auditor.

For families. Registration means there is a clear, independent complaints pathway through the Commission, in addition to speaking with us directly. We would always rather hear from you first, but we believe you should have both.

Why we did it

We work with a community where many people speak Mandarin or Cantonese at home and where trust is earned slowly. Being able to say that an independent body has looked closely at how we work and approved it matters to the families we serve. It also lets us serve participants who previously had no choice but to go elsewhere.

What has not changed

The people. The same support workers, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, podiatrists, exercise physiologists and psychologists who were here last month are here today. The same Chinese-speaking office team answers the phone. The same office at 5 Ellingworth Parade, Box Hill is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm.

Thank you

To the participants and families who trusted us before we had a certificate to show, thank you. To the staff who worked through the audit while still turning up to every shift, thank you.

If you are an NDIS participant in Melbourne’s east and would like to know how a registered provider can support your plan, call 0477 399 714 or 0421 986 841, or contact us. We would love to hear from you.
